About 8 years ago, I was at a point in my life where I was completely desperate to get a date. I wanted a girlfriend but failed in style. I finally convinced a girl to go on a date with me only to be told at the end that she wanted to be JUST FRIENDS. Nothing seemed to work. I simply didn’t understand what was going on.

Yemenite Filigree Class Description
Yemenite jewelry is considered one of the oldest filigree styles in the world. Yehuda Tassa focuses on Yemenite filigree and granulation which some consider a ‘lost art’. In this class you will learn the basics of filigree art. We will accomplish two projects:pair of earrings and a flower pendent. In these projects you will learn to form the frame structure, twisting wires the traditional way and construct filigree elements to fill in the frame structure. We will discuss various soldering , paste soldering and powder soldering. Finally finishing styles of the filigree. The class is for experienced jewelers as well as the beginner. All needed tools and materials will be provided. Sterling and fine silver will be available for sale at the studio for $.85 per gram.
YEHUDA TASSA began to work in Yemenite Filigree at the age of six. Taught by his father, a well-known jeweler in Yemen, he worked in the family jewelry business in Israel for sixteen years. Later on Yehuda studied Aeronautics Engineering at the “Technion” in Israel and received his Bsc and Msc. Later on he received his PhD from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland Ohio and worked at Lockheed Martin for 25 years as research scientist. After retiring from an aerospace career, he revitalized his ‘lost art’ by prolifically producing both ancient and modern filigree designs. He creates jewelry and teaches in the San Francisco Bay area incorporating both ancient and modern tools and techniques into his workshops. Yehuda Tassa gives lectures to local jewelry organizations on the traditions and historical aspects of the authentic Yemenite filigree art.
